A paid Vimeo account (Vimeo Plus, Vimeo Pro, Vimeo for Business), you can restrict your videos to play only on certain locations. This article gives you step by step instructions on how to embed Vimeo vides in Channeltivity without allowing them to play elsewhere.


How to add a private video or webinar to your home page :


To add a video/webinar to the partner portal home page follow these instructions:


  1. Log into Vimeo.com with your login user name and password. You’ll see a nav along the top saying “My Feed, My Videos, Trending, etc.
  2. Click Upload a video in the top right corner. 
  3. Upload video by choosing a file or dragging and dropping into web page. 
  4. Add title to video and leave it set to “Anyone can see this video” 
  5. Click Edit Settings 
  6. Click Embed tab 
  7. In the “Player Preferences” section, make sure the “Portrait”, “Title” and “Byline” have the “Always hide” button clicked 
  8. Click Privacy tab (the top should say” Video Settings/Privacy” 
  9. Click on “Hide this video from Vimeo.com” 
  10. Click “Only on the site I choose” and enter your Channeltivity domain name in this section. 
  11. Click on “No one” for commenting 
  12. Unclick “download the video” 
  13. Press “Save Changes” 
  14. Click “Get embed code” (upper right corner near video) 
  15. Copy code (it should start with <iframe……) 
  16. Go to your Channeltivity portal home page or any other custom page with an Article Widget 
  17. Select "Manage" on the Article Widget
  18. Either click on “edit” or “add” article 
  19. Add “title” to article 
  20. Place the cursor where you want the video to go and then click the video icon in the toolbar: 
  21. Select "Embedded Code" and paste the embed code in large box in the “Description” box:
  22. Add the Groups who can see the video 
  23. Press Save

To add a video/webinar to your Channeltivity Resource Library follow these instructions: 


  1. Log into Vimeo.com with your login user name and password. You’ll see a navigation along the top saying “My Feed, My Videos, Trending, etc 
  2. Click Upload a video in the top right corner. 
  3. Upload video by choosing file or dragging and dropping into web page. 
  4. Add title to video and leave “Anyone can see this video” 
  5. Click on “upload complete! Go to video” (the file will convert) 
  6. Copy URL of video (ex.https://vimeo.com/169931596) 
  7. In the “Player Preferences” section, make sure the “Portrait”, “Title” and “Byline” have the “Always hide” button clicked 
  8. Click Privacy tab 
  9. Click on “Hide this video from Vimeo.com” 
  10. Click “Only on the site I choose” and enter your Channeltivity domain name in this section. 
  11. Click on “No one” for commenting 
  12. Unclick “download the video” 
  13. Press “Save Changes” 
  14. Go to the Channeltivity Resource Library 
  15. Choose the folder for the video 
  16. Click the New button and select "Video" 
  17. Paste URL of video into “Video URL” and check the "Private video" checkbox:
  18. Fill in description, title and the groups who can see the video 
  19. Press “Save”
